Body First Golf has been created by Dr. Justin Hill, a Chiropractor.
I created Body First Golf as a way to provide an high quality, but affordable approach to golf mobility instruction to help golfers of all levels hit better golf shots and enjoy the game more. The game of golf has given back to me so much. My dad, Steve Hill, was a PGA Golf Professional for over 40 years. He was also a General Manager at 3 of the golf courses he worked at. So, as you can see, I grew up on the golf course. I have done every job that can be done at a golf course since I worked in my dad’s pro shop when I was in high school and then worked on the ground crew at many different golf courses when I was in college.
When I went to Chiropractic School, I studied a lot about how the body moves and how the muscles and joints function as one integrated unit. I was fascinated by the muscle slings that cross the body and how they create the big movement patterns. When I was in my 5th semester at school, I took the Level 1 Titleist Performance Institute Medical Course. In that course, Dr. Greg Rose and Dave Phillips, the founders of TPI, went through the movement screening procedures to find why golfers had swing faults. It was an awesome course and I learned a lot. I couldn’t wait to start using their system once I was out of school and had my clinic of my own.
As I started treating my own golfers in my clinic, I realized that the TPI process was pretty time consuming and became quite expensive for my patients. Plus, most people had many failed movement screens, so they had to do a ton of exercises to improve them. It became too difficult for most golfers to actually commit to doing. So I abandoned doing the actual TPI process and began to use other movement tests that I was using on my regular patients who weren’t golfers.
I wanted to create something simpler for golfers that was also quite frankly, more affordable. The regular golfer who needs mobility work the most, couldn’t afford the time and money to improve their bodies to play better golf. So I created Body First Golf to fill that huge gap. This is why we use 1 Movement Screen and 2 Exercises. It’s simpler, easier, and cheaper, so any golfer can afford the time and money to improve their body.
The body is a connected unit, so you have to work on your mobility through exercises that work the whole body, not individual parts. I am using strategies from Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization principles, created by Dr. Pavel Kolar, and I learned most of DNS from my mentor Dr. Brett Winchester. You will see when you buy The Body First Golf Program and use the exercises how effective they are and how much they improve your mobility. These are the same exercises I use with my regular patients in my office as well as with my golfers.
Golf has given my so much in my life from the times playing golf with my twin brother, my dad, and my grandpa. To the early jobs in my youth and now in my Chiropractic practice. I hope that you enjoy using this system to improve your body’s mobility and get to enjoy golf as much as I have!
